Alec has done a fine job in building the surround for the Japanese soaking tub,
and in converting the former Balinese-style entertainment centre into a vanity. Both pieces are stained black, but only the top of the vanity is a solid black. The rest of the surfaces will retain their wood grain. Marine varnish all around.
It will be such a luxury to have a toilet in sleepwalking distance of the bedroom, and heated towel racks again! We had them in Melbourne but did not install them in the downstairs here.

I have been keeping myself busy in the kitchen, fermenting kefir and a ginger bug for sodas… preserving lemons and baking bread.

I'm working from home now on Mondays and Fridays, saving 4 hours a day in commuting time. I think we are working out our new normal.
And with the last of the carpentry completed, we have dismantled the remaining trestle table in the Courtyard!
 
Luke comes tomorrow to begin the design of the native garden, so although not yet finished, it is no longer screaming out, “Construction zone!”
