Job Well Done!

Congratulations and eternal gratitude to Luke Costello and Backyard Permaculture. The lower garden is as finished as he can get it for the moment. They will be back from time to time to plant the remaining trees as they become available and check the progress of their creation.

We have reclaimed the steps down to the beach from the huge bags of landscaping materials and other piles of rubbish. Two remain with the sand and pebbles for the fire pit, along with another large pallet of sandstone pavers. That is a project for Alec…..after the bathroom is finished.
Remaining rubbish to be collected and made to disappear.

Remaining gravel and some of the pebbles for the fire pit (same as these) packed up into available containers and tucked behind the shed.

Worm farm / workbench in place…..complete with worms! Made from an old bathtub and left over timber.

Curry leaf and 2 banana trees along the north edge of the block. The bananas had to be pointed out to me…but they do grow very quickly.
The chickens are, for the most part, very happy. The even have their own pigeon pea tree to forage from once it matures.
They do not hide their feelings if you come in empty handed…

Stone pavers make it easier to get behind the coop to open and close their access door that leads to their larger yard.
Rustic pea trellis needs to be finished off…
Some nighttime critter discovered the arrowroot and nasturtiums so I put gravel over the top yesterday after replanting what was left. No sign of it overnight.

Serious foraging for the chickens (aka “weeding”) has tidied up the party way.

The upper garden and courtyard is also taking shape as the building work winds down.

Table needs to be painted roof colour red, and it will live on the lower balcony once we find a slightly larger table for this spot.

Glad to have the woodstove and central heating now that the temperature is dropping. This time next week I will be in Palm Springs where the temperature is NOT dropping!
