Tree Skirmish Avoided

The Council has agreed to let us take down the last problematic tree, despite it being a Blackbutt and on the endangered species list. We will certainly do everything we can to protect the others on the block and plant more if possible. So now we are really ready to start.

I took a day off work on Friday and we spent over 2 hours with Peter Jones at The Cabinet Factory (www.thecabinetfactory.com.au) and made a start with the kitchen design. We both felt very comfortable with and confident in Peter so have no desire to shop around. But there are certainly lots of decisions to make. We researched laminex over lunch at Zanziba in West Gosford, and came to the conclusion that as long as you don’t actually eat the melamine, the environmental impact is not too bad. But I welcome feedback if anyone has experience or knowledge to share. Pretty well set on stainless steel countertops and backsplash for the L-shaped surfaces and probably bamboo for the island. Thinking a dark grey or brown for the underneath drawers and cabinet doors with a lighter colour for the overheads. It will be interesting to see where we end up.

The to Brookvale where we came away from our visit to Abbey Fireplace loving the morso 1410 “squirrel”.
