The shed is no more. Finally. Alec did most of the dismantling over the past few months, and on Thursday, with the help of 3 young visitors from France staying on the island, it is all in bits, mostly on the lawn.
Next step, reconstruction, but not until Council approval is received.
There has been some movement there. There is still concern about the tree roots. However, Alec noticed that the plan submitted to Council does not show the existing concrete steps that already partially block the roots. There is also a small wooden retaining wall that does not appear in the survey. Bottom line is that they were making decisions based on incomplete information.
We have agreed to raise the level of the house and by sending the new plans and additional documentation to demonstrate that if any excavation is required, it will be minimal, we anticipate that approval will be forthcoming.
